HOLOTYPE: AMNH 112005 , adult female, collect- ed at Salento , 04°38′N, 75°34′W, 7000 ft, Quindío, Colombia, on 2 October 1911, by Arthur A. Allen and Leo E. Miller (no. 707). GoogleMaps

COMMENTS: Hernández-Camacho and RodríguezM. (1979: 574–577) proposed a new subspecies, G. alleni andaquiensis , based on the second specimen of the species and suggested that G. alleni might only be a subspecies of G. guatimalensis . Ridgely and Tudor (1994: 371) believed that it might be even more closely related to G. chthonia .
