Stephanopachys linearis (Kugelann) View in CoL ( Fig. 8K View FIGURE 8 )
Apate linearis Kugelann 1792: 495 .
Distribution in mainland China: HJ (Daxing'anling) ( Chu & Zhang 1997).
Other distribution. Europe, Northern Asia. ( Borowski & Węgrzynowicz 2007, 2012)
Biology. This species develops on coniferous trees, usually damaged by fire but still living, in the family Pinaceae ( Nardi & Audosio 2016, Borowski et al. 2018). It has been recorded from Pinus sylvestris L. in China, Norway and Sweden, from Picea abies (L.) H.Karst. in Norway, and from Larix gmelinii (Rupr.) Kuzen. in China ( Ranius et al. 2014; Zhang et al. 1995) but may exceptionally also feed in old wood of Quercus L. ( Fagaceae ) ( Nardi & Audosio 2016). Ranius et al. (2014) describe the dynamics of a metapopulation on burned pine trees in Sweden and Borowski et al. (2018) studied the trees preferences and bionomy in Poland.
This species has been placed in Annex II of the Habitats Directive, on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species and European Red List of Saproxylic Beetles ( Nardi & Audosio 2016).
