Synonyms: Amphiaulacomys Lataste 1882 ; Pliorhombomys Fokanov 1964 ; Pliorhombomys Fokanov 1976 .

Species and subspecies: 1 species:

Species Rhombomys opimus (Lichtenstein 1823)

Discussion: Tribe Gerbillini , Subtribe Rhombomyina . Reviewed by Corbet (1978 c). The inclusion of Pliorhombomys in Rhombomys was documented by Pavlinov (1992 b). Fossils indicate an evolutionary history extending to late Pliocene in Asia ( McKenna and Bell, 1997).
