Taxonomy. First record from Lebanon as Trigla gurnardus View in CoL , L. by Gruvel (1931: 98). Not recorded afterwards.

Distribution. Western Baltic Sea, North Sea, Mediterranean Sea, Sea of Marmara, Black Sea, eastern Atlantic: Norway and Iceland south to Morocco, including Madeira.

Conservation. IUCN: Global (NE); Med. ( LC: 15 November 2007). Capture and threats: FIT, FIB, HAB, unknown. Occurrence: Very rare. Low priority for conservation action .
