Phorytocarpais hyalinus (Willmann)
Eugamasus hyalinus Willmann, 1949: 110 .
Parasitus hyalinus: Micherdzinski, 1969: 529 ; Hyatt, 1980: 277; Karg, 1993a: 469. Phorytocarpais hyalinus: AthiasHenriot, 1980: 24 .
Specimens examined: Site 9432, 10 females, 5DN.
Phorytocarpais hyalinus is widespread in Europe, where it occurs in compost, agricultural soils, pasture, dung, and leaf litter ( Karg, 1993a). It has also been reported from North and South America, South Africa, Algeria, Morocco, and Mongolia, in a wide variety of habitats ( AthiasHenriot, 1980). It has not been reported from Australia ( Halliday, 1998, 2001b). It is presumed to be a nonspecific predator on the basis of analogy with other species of Parasitus , such as P. coleoptratorum (L.) ( Rapp, 1959).
