Neotype (Renvoize in Cafferty & al. in Taxon 49: 244. 2000): Sri Lanka. Sabaragamuwa Province, Ratnagsura District, 22 Oct 1974, Davidse 7871 (K; iso- MO).
Current name: Sacciolepis indica (L.) Chase ( Poaceae ).
Note: Evidently a nomen novum for Aira indica L. (1753) , the epithet being pre-occupied in Panicum by P. indicum Mill. (1768) , and P. indicum (L.) L. (1771) is illegitimate as a consequence.
