Lectotype (Stuessy in Woodson & Schery in Ann. Missouri Bot. Gard. 62: 1094. 1975): Herb. Linn. No. 1115.1 ( LINN) .

Generitype of Parthenium Linnaeus (vide Green, Prop. Brit. Bot.: 188. 1929).

Current name: Parthenium hysterophorus L. ( Asteraceae ).

Note: Although Stuessy incorrectly described the Linnaean sheet as the holotype, this is treated as correctable under Art. 9.8.
