Celaenorrhinus humbloti ( Mabille 1884) View in CoL ( Figures 14–15 View FIGURE 14 View FIGURE 15 )

This species is restricted to forested areas of Madagascar ( Evans 1937). It was reared from caterpillars found on an unidentified Acanthaceae not in flower by S.C. Collins, near Andasibe.

The caterpillar ( Figure 14 View FIGURE 14 ) is similar to those of the C. proxima group, but the head is very dark brown, and the dorsolateral line is yellow instead of white. The pupa ( Figure 15 View FIGURE 15 ) is similar those of the C. proxima group, but the frontal projections are reduced and darker, the spines on the anterior margin of the dorsal part of the abdominal segments are reduced, and the termen and margin of the forewing and termen of the hind wing are narrowly black.
