Type species. Seius degenerans Berlese, 1889: 9 .

Main distinguishing characteristics. Brownish. Dorsal shield smooth, large, covering the whose idiosoma. Idiosomal setal pattern 10A:9B/Jv-3:ZV; most dorsal shield setae of similar lengths, except j1 and Z5, slightly longer (but not whip-shaped). Posterior margin of sternal shield with a bifurcate median lobe. Ventral shield separate from anal shield; the first a transversely elongate structure with pre-anal setae about transversely aligned and Jv1 far from anterior shield margin; the second, subtriangular. Peritreme almost extending to level of j3. Spermathecal calyx tubular, slender. Chelicera with inner margin of digits deeply concave; fixed and movable digits with 6–7 teeth and one tooth, respectively. Macrosetae present on legs II–IV, slightly capitate. Male with separate ventral and anal shields, with three pairs of setae on the ventral shield, whose insertions are about in a transverse line; spermadactyl L- or spur-shaped.
