Specimen measured. PI (1).
Distribution in Brazil. Piauí ( Moraes et al., 1993).
Distribution elsewhere. Algeria, Azores, Benin, Burundi, Cameroon, Canary Islands, Cape Verde, Cyprus, Democratic Republic of Congo, Egypt, Georgia, Ghana, Grande Comore Island, Greece, Israel, Italy, Kenya, Lebanon, Madagascar, Madeira, Malawi, Morocco, Nigeria, Portugal, Rwanda, Saudi Arabia, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Sudan, Syria, Tanzania, Tunisia, Turkey, Uganda, USA, Yemen, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
Remarks. Given that a single specimen of this species was found in the inland of Piaui, with no known connection with places where this species is known to be common, it seems that its report from Brazil could represent a contamination of research material with specimens collected in Africa at the time when that research was done. Given this possibility, this species was not included in the key later provided in this publication.
