Otostigmus muticus Karsch, 1888 View in CoL
Type locality. Collected in Peru, but without specific date and locality. Brazilian published records. Amazonas. Manaus. Pará. Serra Norte (Serra dos Carajás) and Caxiuanã ( Schileyko, 2002).
New records. Maranhão. Estreito, Cachoeira da Farinha, 7–14.i.2001, F. Straube ( MNRJ 15033). Mato Grosso. Barra do Tapirapé, 22.xi.1940, H. Sick ( MNRJ 15071). Goiás. Rio Aragarças, vii.1953, H. Sick ( IBSP 834).
Remarks. This species resembles O. limbatus by the complete paramedian sutures in the sternites, but differs from O. limbatus by the presence of tarsal spurs on the legs. O. limbatus has tarsal spurs only in first or second pairs of legs and O. muticus two tarsal spurs from legs 1 to 5 and one from legs 6 to 19. It is widely distributed in Central and Northern Brazil ( Figure 39 View FIGURE 39 ).
