Distribution in Iran. Guilan ( Samin et al. 2011).

General distribution. “Pyrenees”1, Turkey.

Taxonomy. This species is considered a synonym of Crypturgus mediterraneus Eichhoff, 1869 by Schedl (1946) and Wood and Bright (1992), but is recognised as a distinct species by Pfeffer (1994) and Knížek (2011).

Biology. It has similar habits to C. cinereus . Recorded in Iran from Pinus sylvestris (Pinaceae) ( Samin et al. 2011).
