Distribution in Iran. Golestan (Eggers 1941 as Scolytus iranicus Eggers, 1942 , a synonym of S. eichhoffi ), Guilan and other northern provinces ( Modarres Awal 1997), Iran (no locality cited) ( Michalski 1973, Knížek 2011).
General distribution. Azerbaijan, Bulgaria.
Biology. This species, like S. ecksteini , breeds in Ulmus and Zelkova (Ulmaceae) ( Stark 1952; Aksent’ev 1993). Recorded in Iran from Ulmus sp. ( Ulmaceae ) ( Modarres Awal 1997). Aksent’ev (1993) briefly describes the gallery system and larva.
Comments. Ablaxia anaxenor (Walker, 1845) ( Hymenoptera : Pteromalidae ) is a parasitoid of S. eichhoffi in Iran ( Ghahari et al. 2010b).
