Type data: This species was described based on an undetermined number of male and female specimens collected in Brazil. One of the females studied by Lepeletier (1841) was found at MHNP being here designated the lectotype. The specimen has the following data label: Bresil [handwritten]\ Centris lanipes Fab. [handwritten]\ Type [printed in red ink]\ Museum Paris [printed] Brésil [handwritten]\ Centris vittata Lep. ♀ [handwritten] det. Friese 1898 [printed]\ [green label] Paralectotype Centris vittata Lepeletier, 1841 F. F. de Oliveira Des. 2014 [printed]\ [green label] Paralectótipo [printed]\ [light blue label] Lectotype Centris vittata Lepeletier, 1841 des. F. Vivallo, 2017 [printed] ( MNHP). No additional specimens from the type series were found at MNHP or in OUMNH. The lectotype is in relatively good condition.

Type locality: Brazil .

Comment: According to Moure et al. (2007), this species occurs from Mexico to southeastern Brazil.
