Discussion: The recognition of Micromeriella aureola and M. hyalina is based mainly on colour characters ( Osten, 2000) and is difficult, especially in males. Gadallah (2004), mentions a new character, the spatulate and apically enlarged outer spur on the hind tibia of M. aureola, what is narrow and pointed in M. hyalina. This character is marked in females and weaker, but also visible in males.

Note: Sometimes the specific name hyalinata is used in combination with Micromeriella Betrem, 1972 . That is incorrect. The species hyalinata Sichel, 1864, was described in the genus Scolia Fabricius, 1775 , and is a synonym of Scolia (Austroscolia) carnifex Coquerel, 1855.

Distribution: Canary Islands, northern and northeastern Africa to Arabia.
