Daidalotarsonemus vandevriei Suski, 1967a: 191 ; Smiley, 1972: 93; Lindquist, 1986: 319; Lin & Zhang, 2002: 65.
Diagnosis. Adults: Gnathosoma : Palpal length about 1/2 length of gnathosoma. Female: Dorsum: Prodorsum reticulate. Tergite C with longitudinal depressions. Tergite D with cells grouped between setae d. Setae v1, sc2, c1, c2 and h unmodified in shape. Setae d, e and f stout and capitate. Setae v1 slightly longer than sc2 (~ 34 and ~ 32, respectively). Setae c1 slightly shorter than c2 (~ 11 and ~ 15, respectively). Setae c1 inserted near midlength of tergite C. Posterior setae d, e and f different in length (~ 15, ~ 21 and ~ 20, respectively) but similar in width (~ 3). Setae f ~8 distant from each other, on rounded tubercles. Setae h shorter than posterior setae d, e and f (~ 12). Venter: Tegula rounded, distinctly arched posteriorly. All apodemes distinct, except for prosternal apodeme nearly missing. Apodemes 2 not fused to prosternal apodeme. Poststernal apodeme bifurcated anteriorly. Legs: Solenidion φ1 of tibiotarsus I not visible. Seta tc” of tarsus II and l’ of tibia III slender but serrate. Male: Dorsum: Setae v1 and sc2 similar in length (~ 30), both longer than v2 (~ 22). Setae sc1 much longer than v1 (~ 51 and ~16, respectively). Setae c1 as long as d (~ 44) both longer than c2 (~ 28). Setae f slightly shorter than d (~ 49). Venter: Apodemes 5 inconspicuous at posterior end of poststernal apodeme. Legs: Solenidion φ1 of tibiotarsus I absent. Solenidion ω of tarsus II length 8. On femorogenu IV, seta v’ G around four times longer than v’ F (~ 28 and ~ 7, respectively). On tibia IV, seta v’ Ti slightly longer tibia IV itself (~ 54 and ~ 40, respectively). Larva: mentioned by Suski (1967a) and Lindquist (1986) but not described.
