Inermosyllis San Martín, 2003: 326 View in CoL .
Diagnosis. Body medium to large, cylindrical, ventrally flattened. Prostomium with two pairs of eyes, three antennae, and two palps. Palps fused at bases, divergent distally. Antennae, tentacular and dorsal cirri moniliform, or indistinctly articulated basally on some species. Compound chaetae with falcigerous blades (occasionally, blades and shafts partially fused), and also capillary dorsal and ventral simple chaetae on some parapodia. Pharynx unarmed, opening surrounded by crown of soft papillae. Reproduction unknown.
Type-species. Pseudosyllides curacaoensis Augener, 1927
Remarks. Inermosyllis was recently proposed to replace Pseudosyllides Augener, 1927 , homonymous with Pseudosyllides Czerniavsky, 1882 (San Martín, 2003). Inermosyllis resembles Syllis Lamarck, 1818 , but lacks pharyngeal tooth. This new species represents the fourth to be described in the genus, the others being Inermosyllis curacaoensis ( Augener, 1927) , from Curaçao Island, Caribbean Sea; I. balearica ( San Martín, 1982) , from the Mediterranean; and I. mexicana ( Góngora-Garza & de León-González, 1993) , from the Pacific coasts of México ( Augener 1927; San Martín 1982, 2003; Góngora-Garza & de León-González 1993).
