Aioliops novaeguineae Rennis & Hoese, 1987 —New Guinea minidartfish

STATUS AT MADANG. First record from Madang by Parenti & Allen (1991: 318). Specimens photographed at St. CTR 18, CTR 35, and by A. Berberian. AMS and USNM material.

DISTRIBUTION AND HABITAT. Endemic to New Guinea. Found in sheltered coral reefs, associated with coral thickets, 2– 10 m. Marine.

Nemateleotris decora Randall & Allen, 1973 —Elegant dartfish

STATUS AT MADANG. New record from Madang, based on specimens photographed by D. Uyeno at Magic Pass on 9 Dec. 2012, and by P. Laboute (St. PR 189).

DISTRIBUTION AND HABITAT. Red Sea and Mauritius east to Marshall Islands and Samoa, north to Ryukyu Islands, south to Queensland ( Australia). Found in burrows on sand-rubble patches of slopes, 28– 68 m. Marine.

Nemateleotris magnifica Fowler, 1938 —Fire dartfish

STATUS AT MADANG. New record from Madang, based on specimens photographed at St. CTR 10. SMF material (SMF 34877).

DISTRIBUTION AND HABITAT. East Africa east to Hawaiian and Pitcairn islands, north to Ryukyu islands, south to northern Australia and New Caledonia. Found in burrows on silt or mud slopes, 6– 70 m. Marine.

Oxymetopon cyanoctenosum Klausewitz & Condé, 1981 —Bluebanded ribbongoby STATUS AT MADANG. New record from Madang, based on a specimen photographed by D. Uyeno on 21 Nov. 2012 off Tab Island.

DISTRIBUTION AND HABITAT. Eastern Indonesia east to Philippines, south to Papua New Guinea. Found in burrows on patches of sand or rubble on the barrier reef slope, 20– 45 m. Marine.

* Ptereleotris crossogenion View in CoL Randall & Suzuki, 2008 —Fringechin dartfish STATUS AT MADANG. Originally described from Madang by Randall & Suzuki (2008: 94, fig. 3). BPBM material.

DISTRIBUTION AND HABITAT. Known only from Madang District, Papua New Guinea, 27 m. Silty sand and rubble in coral reef lagoons. Marine.

STATUS AT MADANG. New record from Madang, based on specimens observed and photographed at St. CTR 0 4, CTR 12, CTR 14, CTR 23, CTR 25, CTR 26.

DISTRIBUTION AND HABITAT. Red Sea and East Africa east to Line and Pitcairn islands, north to southern Japan, south to New South Wales ( Australia). Found in burrows on coral rubble bottom on the barrier reef slope, 2– 15 m. Marine.

STATUS AT MADANG. New record from Madang, based on specimens photographed at St. CTR 24. DISTRIBUTION AND HABITAT. Red Sea and East Africa east to Hawaiian, Line and Society islands, north to Ryukyu Islands, south to New South Wales ( Australia). Found in burrows on sand or coral rubble bottom on the barrier reef slope, 3– 46 m. Marine.

STATUS AT MADANG. New record from Madang, based on specimens observed and photographed at St. CTR 0 6, CTR 14, CTR 16B, CTR 26

DISTRIBUTION AND HABITAT. Red Sea and East Africa east to Line and Tuamotu islands, north to Ryukyu Islands, south to New South Wales ( Australia). Found on sand or coral rubble bottom near coral reefs in the lagoon, 1– 50 m. Marine.

STATUS AT MADANG. First record from Madang by Randall & Hoese (1985: 32). DISTRIBUTION AND HABITAT. Red Sea and Seychelles east to Line and Marquesas islands, north to Ryukyu Islands, south to Queensland ( Australia) and New Caledonia. Found over hard bottom on the barrier reef and the outer barrier reef slope, 2– 31 m. Marine.
