Hoplolatilus fronticinctus (Günther, 1887) —Pastel tilefish
STATUS AT MADANG. New record from Madang, based on AMS material (AMS I.19715-013). DISTRIBUTION AND HABITAT. South Africa east to Solomon Islands. Usually in pairs, hovering above sand bottom of steep seaward reef slopes, 40– 70 m. Marine.

STATUS AT MADANG. New record from Madang, based on a specimen photographed by D. Uyeno on 11 Dec. 2012; another photographed by A. Berberian.
DISTRIBUTION AND HABITAT. Eastern Indonesia east to Philippines and Tonga, south to Papua New Guinea. Usually in pairs, hovering above sand bottom of steep seaward reef slopes, 18– 80 m. Marine.

DISTRIBUTION AND HABITAT. Eastern Indonesia east to Caroline and Tuamotu islands, north to Philippines, south to Queensland ( Australia) and New Caledonia. Usually in pairs, hovering above sand bottom of steep seaward reef slopes, 9– 105 m. Marine.

STATUS AT MADANG. First record from Madang by Kailola (1975: 114). Specimens photographed at St. CTR 0 6, CTR 13. KFRS material.
DISTRIBUTION AND HABITAT. Red Sea and East Africa east to Hawaiian Islands, Samoa and Tonga, north to southern Japan, south to Western Australia, New South Wales ( Australia) at 32°26'S, and New Caledonia. Solitary or in pairs, on soft bottoms adjacent to coral reefs on seaward reef slopes, 5– 60 m. Marine.
