Antennarius biocellatus (Cuvier, 1817) —Brackish frogfish
STATUS AT MADANG. First record from Madang by Pietsch & Grobecker (1987: 175); record confirmed by Allen & Erdmann (2012: 144). WAM material.
DISTRIBUTION AND HABITAT. Indonesia east to Philippines, north to Taiwan, south to Papua New Guinea and Solomon islands. Found in inshore habitats and estuaries, 0– 10 m. Freshwater, transitional water and marine.
Antennarius coccineus ( Cuvier in Lesson, 1831) —Scarlet frogfish, freckled frogfish STATUS AT MADANG. First record from Madang by Pietsch & Grobecker (1997: 147). USNM and WAM material.
DISTRIBUTION AND HABITAT. Red Sea, East Africa and Mascarenes east to Panama and Chile, north to Ryukyu Islands, south to Fremantle (Western Australia) and Lord Howe Island. Demersal, secretive among rocks and sponges, including tidal pools, 1– 75 m. Marine.
Antennarius duescus Snyder, 1904 —Side-jet frogfish
STATUS AT MADANG. First record from Madang by Allen & Erdmann (2012: 146). WAM material. DISTRIBUTION AND HABITAT. Southern Indonesia; Papua New Guinea; Hawaiian islands. Probably more widespread. Demersal, secretive in coral reefs and on coral rubble, 27– 137 m. Marine.

STATUS AT MADANG. New record from Madang, based on WAM material (WAM P.27411-007). DISTRIBUTION AND HABITAT. Red Sea and East Africa east to Panama, north to southern Japan, south to northern Australia. Cryptic, in coral and rocky reefs, 0– 176 m. Marine.

STATUS AT MADANG. New record from Madang, based on WAM material (WAM P.29624-070). DISTRIBUTION AND HABITAT. Red Sea and East Africa east to Hawaiian and Society islands, south to northern Australia. Cryptic, in coral and rocky reefs, 0– 75 m. Marine.

STATUS AT MADANG. New record from Madang, based on WAM material (WAM P.30618-013). DISTRIBUTION AND HABITAT. Cocos-Keeling Islands east to Easter Island. Cryptic, in seaward reefs, 8– 31 m. Marine.

STATUS AT MADANG. New record from Madang, based on USNM material (USNM 386456). DISTRIBUTION AND HABITAT. Red Sea; Indonesia east to Marshall and Gilbert islands and Samoa, north to Ryukyu islands, south to Lord Howe Island. Cryptic, in coral and rocky reefs, 0– 130 m. Marine.

STATUS AT MADANG. New record from Madang, based on CAS and WAM material (CAS 65441; WAM P.30617-001).
DISTRIBUTION AND HABITAT. Circumtropical except eastern Pacific Ocean. Among floating sargassum. Marine.
