Megalops cyprinoides (Broussonet, 1782) —Indo-Pacific tarpon

STATUS AT MADANG. New record from Madang, based on AMS and CAS material (AMS I.16748-009; CAS 66116).

DISTRIBUTION AND HABITAT. Red Sea, East and South Africa east to Society Islands, north to southern Korea, south to northern Australia. Adults in coastal waters, juveniles in mangrove habitats, estuaries and lower reaches of freshwater streams, 0– 50 m. Freshater, transitional water and marine.
