Erect shrub about 1 m high. Leaves oblong-ovate, 6–10 × 2.5–5.5 cm, chartaceous, glabrous. Inflores- cences axillary, in clusters of 3–7 flowers attached in of 7–8 cm long peduncles. Calyces tinged purple, corolla white. Fruits as globose to oval capsules crowned with calyx, 2.5–3 mm, purple.
This species occurs along streams or very moist, low elevation areas in primary forests. It was previously only recorded at its type locality on Catanduanes Island.
