Type material. Holotype female, CHINA, Yunnan Province, Gongshan County, Dulong Valley Road, 27.78333°N, 98.51667°E, 3030 m, 4 October 2002, H.M. Yan ( HNU). Paratypes: 2 ɗ, same data as holotype ( HNU); 4 Ψ, Gongshan County, New Road, 27.78333°N, 98.50000°E, 3032 m, 3 October 2002, H.M. Yan ( CAS); 1 Ψ, Gongshan County, Dabadi battalion, 27.78333°N, 98.50000°E, 3030-3045 m, 2 October 2002, H.M. Yan ( HNU); 1 ɗ, Gongshan County, Dulong Valley Road, 27.80000ºN, 98.55000ºE, 3000 m, 27 September to 6 October 2002, P.E. Marek ( HNU).
Etymology. The specific name refers to the shape of the atrium of epigyne.
Diagnosis. This new species is similar to Clubiona ovalis Zhang, 1991 ( Zhang 1991: 30, figs 7–10, 17), but can be distinguished from the latter by (1) atrium oblate, instead of upright oval in C. ovalis ; (2) anterior spermathecae smaller and globular, instead of bigger and subtriangular in C. ovalis ; (3) chelicera with four teeth on retromargin, instead of two in C. ovalis .
Description. Female (holotype): Total length 4.60. Prosoma 1.90 long, 1.45 wide; opisthosoma 2.62 long, 1.65 wide. Carapace oval in dorsal view, yellow brown, with erect thin dark setae on the front ridge. Cephalic portion of prosoma slightly elevated. Fovea longitudinal. Anterior eye row slightly recurved, posterior eye row slightly procurved. AME dark, other eyes light; bases of eyes black. Diameters of eyes: AME 0.09, ALE 0.14, PME 0.12, PLE 0.11. Distances between eyes: AME–AME 0.06, AME–ALE 0.03, PME– PME 0.13, PME–PLE 0.11, MOQL 0.16, MOQA 0.21, MOQP 0.32. Chelicerae yellow brown, with small lateral condyle, promargin and retromargin both with 4 teeth. Gnathocoxae lightly yellow brown, long and narrow, with dark serrula. Labium lightly yellow brown, longer than wide. Sternum oval, yellow, with many hairs. Opisthosoma lightly yellow, with conspicuous anterior tufts of hairs, dorsum with black thin hairs and two pairs of muscular depressions; venter yellow white. Spinnerets light yellow. Legs yellow. Tibiae I and II with 3 pairs of spines in ventral view. Measurements of legs: I 3.70 (1.10, 1.60, 0.60, 0.40), II 4.0 (1.30, 1.45, 1.30, 0.45), III 3.50 (1.10, 1.20, 0.75, 0.45), IV 5.20 (1.80, 1.90, 1.00, 0.50). Leg formula IV, II, I, III.
Epigyne ( Figs 1–2 View FIGURES 1 – 5 ). Atrium oblate, surrounded by a thick membrane; copulatory openings located in anterior part of epigyne; copulatory ducts short; anterior spermathecae smaller, globular; posterior spermathecae ovoid and semitransparent; Fertilization ducts short, curved.
Male (one paratype): Total length 4.35. Prosoma 1.90 long, 1.45 wide; opisthosoma 2.45 long, 1.30 wide. Diameters of eyes: AME 0.10, ALE 0.13, PME 0.12, PLE 0.11. Distances between eyes: AME–AME 0.08, AME–ALE 0.03, PME–PME 0.20, PME–PLE 0.10, MOQL 0.20, MOQA 0.16, MOQP 0.27. Measurements of legs: I 3.85 (1.20, 1.60, 0.65, 0.40), II 4.40 (1.30, 1.85, 0.80, 0.45), III 4.00 (1.15, 1.45, 1.00, 0.40), IV 5.70 (1.70, 1.90, 1.65, 0.45). Leg formula IV, II, III, I. All characters as in female.
Palp ( Figs 3–5 View FIGURES 1 – 5 ). VTA short and with a blunt tip; RTA dark, flat and trigonal; embolus strong, with a curved tip; conductor wide and membranous. In ventral view, sperm duct S-shaped.
Distribution. China: Yunnan.
