CURRENT STATUS: valid species, as Delia bracata ( Dely-Draskovits 1993: 40, Gorodkov et al. 1995: 6).
REMARKS: Rondani (1866a: 183) described Hylemyia bracata without specifying the exact number of the specimens, giving a range of lengths and providing specific characters for the male and female: “ Non frequens in agro parmensi…. Etiam Bononiae lecta a Tacchetti [Not common in Parmese territory… Also collected in Bologna by Tacchetti]”. Hennig (1974a: 747) reported a single male in the MZUF, which he incorrectly considered as the holotype, but did not unambiguously select a particular specimen from the type series to serve as the namebearing type and therefore did not publish a lectotype designation (I.C.Z.N. 1999: Article 74.5). Four syntypes were found in this study. Rondani described this nominal species under the generic name “ Hylemyia ”, which is an “incorrect subsequent spelling of Hylemya Robineau-Desvoidy, 1830 or subsequent usage of Hylemyia Macquart, 1835 ” ( O’Hara et al. 2011: 99).
