Myiophthiria capsoides Rondani, 1878 View in CoL
ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1878a: 154.
TYPE LOCALITY: “ in Insulis Philippinis [ Philippine Islands]”.
TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♀, lectotype ( MZUF: Box 66): Myiophthyria [sic!] R. / capsoides n. / 3388 / lectotype Myiophthiria capsoides Rndn., T. C. Maa , [19]62.
PARALECTOTYPES EXAMINED: 1 ♀, 1 specimen (sex not determinable, abdomen dirty) ( MZUF: Box 66): Myiophthyria [sic!] R. / capsoides n. / 3388 .
CURRENT STATUS: valid species as Myophthiria capsoides ( Maa 1977a: 411) View in CoL .
REMARKS: Rondani (1878a: 154) described Myiophthiria capsoides , without specifying either the number or the sex of the specimens but from more than one: “ exemplaria plura [more specimens]”, received from the MSNG and L. Bellardi who obtained many specimens of the species from Prof. C. Semper who collected in Philippine Islands. Maa (1963: 24) designated a lectotype (♀) and paralectotypes (1 ♀, 1 specimen, sex not determinable, in the MZUF; 1 ♀ in the MNHUB) and reported that the MNHUB female paralectotype is labeled: Myophthiria capsoides Rond. / Philippinen, Coll. Osten-Sack. / D892. However, there is no type with such a label in the MN- HUB (J. Ziegler, pers. comm., 2013). This nominal species was described under the generic name “ Myiophthiria ”, which is an “incorrect subsequent spelling of Myophthiria Rondani, 1875 ” ( O’Hara et al. 2011: 124).
