TYPE LOCALITY: “ Mexico ” .

TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♀, syntype (covered with mold) ( MZUF: Box 66): Strebla mexicana Rnd. / vespertilionis? Fab., Messico / 3390 / holotype [sic!] Strebla mexicana Rndn. , ♀, T.C. Maa, [19]62 .

CURRENT STATUS: doubtful species of Strebla Wiedemann, 1824 View in CoL ( Wenzel et al. 1966: 610).

REMARKS: Rondani (1878a: 168) described Strebla mexicana from more than one specimen: “ Specimina observata collectionis Bellardi [Specimens observed in Bellardi’s collection]”. Maa incorrectly labeled the single MZUF female as “ holotype ” but, as far as we know, he never indicated this specimen as holotype in any of his publications. Wenzel et al. (1966: 610) reported the type of Strebla mexicana as “heavily coated with dirt”.
