ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1875c: 453.

TYPE LOCALITY: “ Insula Bonae Fortunae (Borneo) , Provincia Sarawak [ Bona Fortuna Island , Sarawak Province, Borneo]” ( Rondani 1875c: 421) .

TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♀, holotype ( MSNG): Ceylon / typus / oenomaus Rond. / Hyperalonia oenomaus n° 58.

CURRENT STATUS: valid species, as Ligyra oenomaus View in CoL ( Bowden 1975: 184, Evenhuis & Greathead 1999: 408, 2015: 424).

REMARKS: Rondani (1875c: 453) described Hyperalonia oenomaus , without specifying either the number or the sex of the specimens, but giving a single measurement of length, from material collected by G. Doria and O. Beccari. Rondani (1875c) dealt with species from Borneo but the MSNG specimen is labeled “ Ceylon ”. Guiglia (1957: 195), Raineri & Rey (1996: 31), and Evenhuis & Greathead (1999: 408) considered this latter as the holotype.
