ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1863: 30.
TYPE LOCALITY: “ Chiliae [ Chile]” .
TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♀, syntype (missing head and legs) ( MZUN: Box Muscidae M02,15) : Somomyia [sic!] anulipes Phil. , Chili [= Chile] / M. Zool. N° 11396 / ♀ .
CURRENT STATUS: James (1970) and Mac-Lean & González (2006) did not list this nominal species; available name ( O’Hara et al. 2011: 206).
REMARKS: Rondani (1863: 30) described Somomya anulipes from just the female sex without specifying either the number or the length of the specimens, from material collected in Chile and received from R.A. Philippi. Philippi (1861: 514) described the species Calliphora annulipes , which Lynch-Arribálzaga (1879: 258) considered as a different species. Costa (1866: 33) listed two MZUN specimens (as Somomyia [sic!] anulipes Phil. ) numbered “697”. We found just one female syntype in this study.
