Micromya lucorum Rondani, 1840 View in CoL

ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1840b: 23.

TYPE LOCALITY: “ in lucis montuosis [in mountain wood]”. Rondani gave no type locality in his original description but presumably it is Italy because the work deals with Italian species .

TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♂, neotype ( NHMUK): ♂, Expl. – Nr. 15643, Oxford, im Museum, 05.07.192 1, leg. Hamm (Jaschhof 1998: 242) .

CURRENT STATUS: valid species ( Skuhravá 1986: 83, Dahl et al. 1995: 29, Gagné 2010: 29, Gagné & Jaschhof 2017: 40).

REMARKS: Rondani (1840b: 23) described Micromya lucorum without specifying either the number or the sex of the specimens, but giving a single measurement of length, but had more than one specimen because he collected in two different months: “ Saepe inventa …, presertim mensibus Maji et Junii [often collected … above all in May and June]”. He ( Rondani 1856: 198) considered Micromya lucorum as the type species for the genus Micromya Rondani, 1840 . Rondani (1860b: 135) reported knowing only males of this nominal species and later ( Rondani 1869c: 192), described the female. Gagné & Solinas (1996: 73), in the absence of a type series, suggested designating a neotype. Jaschhof (1998: 242) designated the neotype (♂).
