Lispa suturata Rondani, 1866 View in CoL
ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1866a: 209 (key), 210 (description).
TYPE LOCALITY: “ in collibus agri parmensis … foeminam melitensem obtinui [Parmese hills ( Italy) … I obtained one female from Malta Island]” .
TYPE MATERIAL: 2 ♂♂, syntypes ( MZUF: Box 26): Lispe Latr. / suturata Rnd. , ♂ , tenuipalpis, Parma / 1400; 1 ♀, syntype ( MZUF: Box 26): Lispe Latr. / suturata Rnd. , ♀, tenuipalpis / Malta / 1400.
CURRENT STATUS: junior synonym of Lispe pygmaea Fallén, 1825 ( Pont 1986b: 190, Gorodkov et al. 1995: 15).
REMARKS: Rondani (1866a: 210) described both sexes of Lispa suturata , without specifying the exact number of specimens, but giving a single measurement of length: “ Raro uterque sexus inventus … et foeminam melitensem obtinui a doct. Schembri [Rarely I collected both sexes … and the female from Malta I received by Dr. Schembri]. We found three syntypes in this study. An additional two specimens in the MZUF numbered “1400” from “Vienna” are not included in the type series because they are not from the type locality. Rondani described this nominal species under the generic name “ Lispa ”, which is an “incorrect subsequent spelling of Lispe Latreille, 1797 ” ( O’Hara et al. 2011: 106).
