ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1863: 41.

TYPE LOCALITY: “ Brasilia [ Brazil]” .

TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♀, syntype (covered with mold, missing right hind-leg) ( MZUN: Box Coll. entomol. extra-europea, Gen. Grallomya a Celiphus): Calobata brasiliana Rnd. , Brasile / M. Zool. N° 11464.

CURRENT STATUS: valid species, unplaced to genus of Micropezidae ( Steyskal 1968a: 20) View in CoL .

REMARKS: Rondani (1863: 41) described Callobata brasiliana , without specifying the number , the sex or the length of the specimens, from material received from V. Ghiliani. Rondani (1863: 41, 94) named the genus as “ Callobata ”, which is an “incorrect subsequent spelling of Calobata Meigen, 1803 ” ( O’Hara et al. 2011: 44). Costa (1866: 35) listed a single MZUN specimen numbered “749”. We also found one syntype in this study.
