ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1863: 88.
TYPE LOCALITY: “ Valdivia [ Valdivia (southern Chile)]” .
TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♀, holotype (dirty, covered with mold) ( MZUN: Box Coll. entomol. extra-europea, Fam. Stratiomidei - Gen. Hermethia a Beris ): Oplachantha valdiviana Rnd. , Valdivia / M. Zool. N° 10957.
CURRENT STATUS: valid species, as Antissa valdiviana ( James 1973: 24) ; valid species, as Cyanauges validivianus ( Woodley 2001: 77) .
REMARKS: Rondani (1863: 88) described Oplachantha valdiviana from a single female: “ exemplar unicum foemineum [a single female specimen]”, labeled valdivianus by R.A. Philippi, to whom Rondani attributed the name. Costa (1866: 39) listed a single MZUN specimen numbered “929”.
