CURRENT STATUS: junior synonym of Copromyza glabrifrons (Meigen, 1830) ( Papp 1984d: 79) ; nomen dubium View in CoL in Sphaeroceridae ( Papp 1984d: 106) View in CoL ; junior synonym of Crumomyia glabrifrons (Meigen, 1830) View in CoL ( Norrbom & Kim 1986: 34, Norrbom et al. 2001: 60).

REMARKS: Rondani (1880: 12) described Borborus limbinervis without specifying the number, the sex or the length of the specimens, but presumably from more than one specimen because he stated: “ in tota Italia legitur et frequenter [found in all Italy and commonly]”. Norrbom & Kim (1986: 34) designated a lectotype (♂) and paralectotypes (7 ♂♂, 8 ♀♀) but did not mention an additional two specimens (both of these additional specimens are paralectotypes) in the MZUB.
