CURRENT STATUS: valid species, as Heteronychia consanguinea ( Verves 1986: 149) View in CoL ; valid species, as Sarcophaga (Heteronychia) consanguinea View in CoL ( Pape 1988: 6, Pape et al. 1995: 14, Pape 1996: 325, Whitmore 2011: 24; Krčmar et al. 2019: 127).
REMARKS: Rondani (1861g: 392) described both sexes of Sarcophaga consanguinea without specifying the exact number of specimens and not giving a range of lengths. Pape (1988: 6) designated a lectotype (♂) and paralectotypes (4 ♂♂, 1 ♀ pinned with one of the males) and mentioned an additional four females that did not fit Rondani’s original description and that should be considered as later additions. Pape (1988: 6) did not mention an additional male in the MSNC (this additional specimen is a paralectotype). Böttcher (1913: 197) and Whitmore (2011: 24) reported the MZUF type series as consisting of five males and one female.
