Sarcophaga ancilla Rondani, 1865 View in CoL View at ENA
ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1865c: 226.
TYPE LOCALITY: “ in colle subapennino agri parmensis [ Parmese sub-Apennine hill ( Italy)]” .
TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♂, holotype (terminalia on a slide pinned below specimen) ( MZUF: Box 19): Sarcophaga Mgn / ancilla Rnd. / 1029 / Lectotypus [not designated] Sarcophaga ancilla Rond. / Heteronychia ancilla Rond. , det. F. Mihályi / holotype ♂, Sarcophaga ancilla Rond., T. Pape det., 1968 [sic! = 1986] / specie buona [valid species] Böttcher.
CURRENT STATUS: valid species, as Heteronychia ancilla View in CoL ( Verves 1986: 151, Povolný & Verves 1997: 164); valid species, as Sarcophaga (Heteronychia) ancilla View in CoL ( Pape 1988: 6, 1996: 323, Pape et al. 1995: 14, Whitmore 2011: 17; Krčmar et al. 2019: 126).
REMARKS: Rondani (1865c: 226) described Sarcophaga ancilla from just the male sex, without specifying the number of specimens or the length of the specimens: “ Semel marem legi [I collected the male once]”. Pape (1988: 6) reported: “The specimen has to be the holotype, not a lectotype as labeled by Mihályi as Rondani (1865) explicitly mentions a single male”. Whitmore (2011: 17) studied the holotype in the MZUF.
