TYPE LOCALITY: “ Parmae [Parma (Italy)]”.

CURRENT STATUS: valid species, as Sarcophaga (Heteronychia) setinervis ( Verves 1986: 147, Pape 1988: 15, Pape et al. 1995: 14, Pape 1996: 333).

REMARKS: Rondani (1861g: 390) described both sexes of Sarcophaga setinervis without specifying the exact number of specimens and not giving a range of lengths. Morge (1959b: 90) incorrectly listed this nominal species as “ setinerva”. Pape (1988: 15) designated a lectotype (♂) and paralectotypes (2 ♂♂, 1 ♀) but did not mention an additional four specimens: two in the MZUF, one in the MSNPV and one in the MZUB (all are paralectotypes).
