Chetolyga separata Rondani, 1859 View in CoL
ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1859b: 106 (key), 110 (description).
TYPE LOCALITY: “ in collibus ditionis parmensis [ Parmese hills ( Italy)]” .
TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♂, syntype (missing left hind-leg) ( MZUF: Box 11): Chetolyga Rndn. / separata Rnd. , ♂ / 568.
CURRENT STATUS: junior synonym of Smidtia conspersa ( Meigen, 1824) ( Herting & Dely-Draskovits 1993: 178) .
REMARKS: Rondani (1859b: 110) described Chetolyga separata from just the male sex, without specifying either the number or the length of the specimens: “ Mas tantum mihi notus [only the male known]”. We found one male syntype in this study. This nominal species was described under the generic name “ Chetolyga ”, which is an “incorrect subsequent spelling of Chetoliga Rondani, 1856 ” ( O’Hara et al. 2011: 54).
