ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1868b: 38.
TYPE LOCALITY: “ Patagonia [ Patagonia (Argentina) ]”.
TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♀, syntype (missing left fore-leg) ( MZUF: Box 71): Agelanius acupunctatus Rnd., Am. M. [= South America] / Type A. acupunctatus Rnd., C.B. Philip, 1964 / Dasybasis minor (Macquart) , det. Coscarón, 1966 / [no identification number].
CURRENT STATUS: junior synonym of Dasybasis minor ( Macquart, 1850) View in CoL ( Fairchild 1971: 39, Coscarón & Papavero 2009: 73).
REMARKS: Rondani (1868b: 38) described Agelanius acupunctatus , without specifying the number, the sex or the length of the specimens, from material received from P. Strobel. Philip (1965a: 121) and Fairchild (1971: 39) reported a single type (♀) in the MZUF. We also found one syntype in this study.
