ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1857: 188 (key), 192 (description) (as “ pechiolii ”).

TYPE LOCALITY: “ prope Pisam [near Pisa ( Italy)]” .

TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♂, holotype (missing left mid-leg) ( MZUF: Box 7): Paragus Latr. / pecchiolii Rnd. , ♂, Etrur. [= Etruria (Tuscany) ] / = P. majoranae Rondani, P. Goeldlin det. 1971 / 336 / Holotypus Paragus pecchiolii Rond. , des. Sommaggio, 2002.

CURRENT STATUS: junior synonym of Paragus majoranae Rondani, 1857 ( Peck 1988: 81) View in CoL ; valid species ( Sommaggio 2002: 55).

REMARKS: Rondani (1857: 192) described Paragus pecchiolii from a single male: “ marem unicum acccepi a D. Pecchioli [I received a single male from D. Pecchioli]”. Rondani described this nominal species as Paragus pechiolii . Bezzi & Stein (1907: 1) correctly emended the name to “ pecchiolii ”.
