Tripeta nebrodesia Rondani, 1870 View in CoL
ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1870c: 109 (key), 116 (description).
TYPE LOCALITY: “ in Sicilia, … ad Nebrodes [Sicily, … Nebrodi mountains ( Italy)]” .
TYPE MATERIAL: 2 ♀♀, syntypes ( MZUF: Box 32): Tripeta Mgn / nebrodesia Rndn. , ♀, Sicil. / 1718 .
CURRENT STATUS: junior synonym of Orellia colon ( Meigen, 1826) ( Foote 1984: 105) ; junior synonym of Terellia colon ( Meigen, 1826) ( Norrbom et al. 1999: 222) .
REMARKS: Rondani (1870c: 116) described Tripeta nebrodesia from just the female sex, without specifying either the number or the length of the specimens: “ captae faeminae aliquae … a D. Mina [sic!] Palumbo [a few females collected by Minà Palumbo ]”. White et al. (1990: 109) reported a single female syntype in the MZUF. We found two syntypes in the MZUF. This nominal species was described under the generic name Tripeta , which is an “unjustified emendation of Trypeta Meigen, 1803 ” ( O’Hara et al. 2011: 185).
