Pyrrosia segregata Rondani, 1861
ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1861e: 63 (key), 65 (description).
TYPE LOCALITY: Rondani (1856: 72) gave no locality in his redescription of Tachina pacifica Meigen, 1824 , but presumably it is Italy because the work dealt with Italian species; “ in agro parmensi [Parmese territory ( Italy)] (Rondani 1861: 65) [Type locality for Pyrrosia segregata Rondani, 1861 ]”.
TYPE MATERIAL: 3 ♂♂, syntypes (one missing hind-legs; one missing left fore- and mid-legs) ( MZUF: Box 15): Pyrrosia Rnd. / segregata Rnd. , ♂ / 797; 3 ♀♀, syntypes (one covered with mold, missing left fore- and right mid-legs; one partially eaten by dermestids and covered with mold; one missing left mid-leg) ( MZUF: Box 15): Pyrrosia Rnd. / segregata Rnd. , ♀ / 797; 1 ♂, syntype ( MZUF: Box D): Pyrrosia R. segregata R., 299, ♂, Parma / 393 299; 1 ♂, syntype (in poor condition, only head, thorax, left fore-leg and right wing remain) ( MSNC: Box DIPTERA Ex collezione Rondani - I): Pyrrosia Rnd. segregata Rnd. 119 ♂ ♀ Parma / Coll. Rondani, scatola n° 2, posiz. B-14 / Museo di Storia Naturale Università di Pisa, Calci ( PI) ex collezione Rondani; 1 ♀, syntype (missing left fore- and mid-legs) ( MSNC: Box DIPTERA Ex collezione Rondani - I): Pyrrosia segregata Rnd. ♀ Parm. / Coll. Rondani, scatola n° 2, posiz. B-15/ Museo di Storia Naturale Università di Pisa, Calci ( PI) ex collezione Rondani.
CURRENT STATUS: junior synonym of Solieria fenestrata ( Meigen, 1824) ( Herting & Dely-Draskovits 1993: 343) .
REMARKS: Rondani (1861e: 65) proposed Pyrrosia segregata for Tachina pacifica Meigen, 1824 sensu Rondani (1856: 72) , which he considered a new species. Rondani (1861: 65) described both sexes of Pyrrosia segregata without specifying the exact number of specimens and not giving a range of lengths. We found nine syntypes in this study.
