ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1862d: 163 (key), 164 (description).

TYPE LOCALITY: “ in Apennino parmensi [ Parmese Apennines ( Italy)]” .

TYPE MATERIAL: 3 ♂♂, syntypes (one missing left mid- and right hind-legs; one missing right mid-leg) ( MZUF: Box 11): Rhynchista Rnd. / apennina Rnd. , ♂ / 556.

CURRENT STATUS: valid species, as Eriothrix apenninus ( Herting & Dely-Draskovits 1993: 371, Pape et al. 1995: 28, O’Hara et al. 2009: 37, 2020: 140, Cerretti 2010: 446).

REMARKS: Rondani (1862d: 164) described Rhynchista apennina from just the male sex, without specifying either the number or the length of the specimens: “ Mares aliquas tantum legi [I collected a few males only]”. We found three syntypes in this study.
