Tachina erucarum Rondani, 1859
ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1859b: 195 (key), 201 (description).
TYPE LOCALITY: “ environs de Lille [near Lille ( France)]” ( Macquart 1834b: 129) [type locality for Tachina angusta Macquart, 1854 ].
TYPE MATERIAL: see Remarks.
CURRENT STATUS: junior synonym of Exorista (Adenia) mimula ( Meigen, 1824) ( Herting & Dely-Draskovits 1993: 126) .
REMARKS: Rondani (1859b: 201) considered the males of Tachina angusta Macquart, 1854 and Tachina angustifasciata Macquart, 1854 , and the females of Tachina flavicalyptrata Macquart, 1854 , Tachina celer Macquart, 1854 and Tachina pusilla Macquart, 1834 , as the same species but, instead of applying the Principle of Priority, incorrectly proposed the substitute name Tachina erucarum . Schiner (1861b: 474, 1864: 93), Meade (1892a: 37), Strobl (1893: 91), Mik & Wachtl (1895: 248) and Bezzi & Stein (1907: 347) considered Tachina erucorum as a valid species. The type material for Tachina erucarum will be the same as for the name it was proposed to replace, i. e., Tachina angusta . There is no type of this latter species in the MHNL (O. Boilly, pers. comm., 2019), MNHN (Muséum national d’Histoire naturelle 2020) and OUMNH (Z. Simmons, pers. comm., 2019) where Macquart’s collection is preserved. Under the name Tachina erucarum there are three males and four females in the MZUF, and one male and one female in the MSNC (all non-types).
