ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1861e: 160 (key), 161 (description).

TYPE LOCALITY: “ in planitie agri Parmensis [ Parmese plains ( Italy)]” .

TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♂, syntype (missing right hind-leg) ( MZUF: Box D): Phorocera Desv. / nigripalpis R., 240, Apenn. [= Apennines] / 393 240.

CURRENT STATUS: junior synonym of Pseudoperichaeta nigrolineata ( Walker, 1853) ( Herting & Dely-Draskovits 1993: 201) .

REMARKS: Rondani (1861e: 161) described Phorocera nigripalpis from just the male sex, without specifying the exact number of specimens, but giving a single measurement of length: “ Mares aliquos legi [I collected some males]”. We found just one male syntype in this study. Herting (1969) did not list this nominal species.
