Plistonax albituberculatus Silva Júnior & Souza, 2019 View in CoL ( Fig. 10b View Fig )

Plistonax albituberculatus Silva Júnior et al. (2019): 393 View in CoL View Cited Treatment , figs. 1–9; Monné (2021) (cat).

Type locality: holotype (male) – Brazil, Rio de Janeiro, Rio de Janeiro, Serra dos Três Rios ( MZSP) ( Fig. 10b View Fig ) .

Diagnosis. Lateral tubercle of pronotum covered by white setae ( Fig. 10b View Fig ). Median basal-crest straight ( Fig. 1e View Fig ). Elytra with three pairs of transversal dark-brown stains ( Fig. 10b View Fig ). Tarsomeres I and V covered by white setae, II–IV with brown setae ( Fig. 10b View Fig ). Abdomen subequal in length in comparison between male and female.

Description. Male terminalia ( Fig. 9g, h, i, j, k, l View Fig ). Tegmen ( Fig. 9g View Fig ). Ringed part slightly convex, with anterior region sclerotized in inner margin; remaining surface membranous; apex rounded, without reentrance. Paramere with uniform sclerotization, slightly narrower at apex; basal region with ventral projections covered with short setae; apex entirely covered by long setae, remaining surface with sparse and very short setae. Endophallus ( Fig. 9h–i View Fig ). Median lobe curved in lateral view, with dorsal lobe indistinguishable; ventral lobe uniformly sclerotized; apex slightly narrowed, with deep medi- an invagination. Median strut membranous, smooth, with apex rounded. Internal sac with one pair of sclerotized structures anteriorly. Ventral arc ( Fig. 9j View Fig ). Membranous, with stem slightly curved at apex, wider in middle and base of stem and lateral projections. Tergites ( Figs. 9k–l View Fig ). Tergites VII and VIII longer than wider, both entirely sclerotized, with posterior region covered with short setae, longer in tergite VII; both tergites with base and apex rounded. Tergite VIII with membranous apophysis.

Distribution. Brazil [Bahia, Rio de Janeiro] (Fig. S4a).

Remarks. Since this species was recently described, we provided only the male terminalia description, absent in the original description ( Silva Júnior et al. 2019). The distinct elytral pattern and the strong presence of white setae on the general surface make this species easily identifiable in the genus. Moreover, the paramere has a projection at base ( Fig. 6b), absent in the other species of Plistonax here examined.
