Type Locality: Burma, N Arakan.
Vernacular Names: Northern Pig-tailed Macaque.
Synonyms: Macaca adusta Miller 1906 ; Macaca andamanensis (Bartlett 1869) ; Macaca blythii Pocock 1931 ; Macaca coininus (Kloss 1903) ; Macaca insulana Miller 1906 ; Macaca indochinensis Kloss 1919 .
Distribution: Burma, coast (including Mergui Arch.), Thailand north of about 8°N, S Yunnan ( China), Laos, Bangladesh, India north to Brahmaputra River.
Conservation: CITES – Appendix II; IUCN – Vulnerable.
Discussion: M. nemestrina species group. Considered a species separate from nemestrina by Groves (2001 c:223).
