Type: — CROATIA. Central Dalmatia: Croazia , isola di Pomo (Jabuka), litorale roccioso, 27 April 2008, Bogdanović, Boršić & Nikolić s.n. (holotype CAT!; isotypes CAT!, ZAGR!) ( Figs. 20 View FIGURE 20 , 49 View FIGURE 49 ) .

Diagnosis: — Planta pulvinata, dense pubescens , dense foliosum secus caudiculas, foliis rugosis, spathulatis, rotundatis, revolutis margine, 1(–3)-nervis, scapis solitariis vel paucis, erectis ad adscendentibus, rugosis, ramis sterilibus paucis, inflorescentia dense reticulata, ramosa, spicis rectis ad curvatis, bractea inferiore ovata, subobtusa, bractea superiore elliptico-obovata, obtusa, calice tubo dense piloso, lobis triangularibus, acutis.

Description: —Plant perennial, pulvinate, 10–30 cm tall, densely pubescent (hairs up to 0.1–0.2 mm long), with robust tap-root. Caudices branched, 4–10 cm long, densely covered by leaves. Leaves rigid, rugose, erect or erect-ascending, pubescent, green, 12–40 mm long, 6–14 mm wide, spathulate, revolute at the margin, 1(–3)- nerved, gradually tapering into a long petiole, rounded at the apex. Stems solitary or few, erect to ascending, rugose, with a few sterile branches, flexuous, fragile at nodes, very branched in upper part, diverging at the angle of 60–120°, basal internode 2–5 cm, upper internodes 0.5–2 cm long, right to curved. Spikelets 6–7 mm long, 1–2 flowered, 4–5 per cm; outer bract 1.5–2.5 mm long, 1.5–2.2 mm wide, ovate, subobtuse, totally hairy, margin widely membranous, with central part fleshy, long acuminate; middle bract 1.8–2.4 mm long, 1–1.5 mm wide, oblong, bifid at the apex, membranous, totally hairy; inner bract totally hairy, 4–4.7 mm long, 2.3–2.5 mm wide, elliptical-obovate, obtuse, with margin membranous, 0.3 mm wide, and central part fleshy, 1.8–2 mm wide, acuminate, forming a triangular tip, 0.5–0.7 mm long, almoust reaching the upper margin. Calyx 5.5–5.8 mm long, exserted 1.8–2 mm from the inner bract, tube and ribs densely hairy, ribs reaching the middle part of the lobes; calyx lobes 1.2–1.3 × 0.7–0.8 mm, triangular, acute. Corolla lilac.

Etymology: —From “Pomo” the old name of Jabuka island.

Distribution and ecology: —The species is localized in the volcanic island of Jabuka (Vis archipelago), where it grows in the lower ledges of the cliffs ( Fig. 29K View FIGURE 29 ). It is a member of halophilous communities, which are replaced in the vertical surfaces by a chasmophilous vegetation.
