Type: — CROATIA. Central Dalmatia: Parva insula Zanak prope insulam Vis , Dalmatia , Croatia , 1 August 1972, Durbešić 12481 (holotype ZA!) ( Figs. 21 View FIGURE 21 , 50 View FIGURE 50 ) .
Description: —Plant perennial, 15–25 cm tall, minutely pubescent (hairs up to 0.05 mm long), with robust tap-root. Caudices branched, 1–5 cm long, with dense leaf rosettes at the apex. Leaves rigid, rugose, pubescent, green, 7–24(–32) mm long, 1.5–5 mm wide, spathulate to linear-spathulate, revolute at the margin, 1-nerved, gradually tapering into a petiole, retuse at the apex. Stems numerous, prostrate to ascending, rugose, with numerous sterile branches, flexuous, fragile at nodes, very branched, diverging at the angle of 90–180°, internodes 2–15(–20) mm long, right to curved. Inflorescence reticulate, branched from the base; spikes 5–20 mm long, straight to curved. Spikelets 4.5–5 mm long, 2–3 flowered, 4–6 per cm; outer bract 1–1.5 mm long, 1.3–2 mm wide, semicircularovate, obtuse, with margin narrowly membranous, glabrous, central part fleshy, densely puberulent, acuminate; middle bract 1.5–1.8 mm long, 1–1.3 mm wide, oblong, obtuse to rounded at the apex, membranous, puberulent in the central part and veins; inner bract 3–3.5 mm long, 2.1–2.4 mm wide, oblong, obtuse, margin membranous, glabrous, 0.2–0.3 mm wide, and central part fleshy, densely hairy, 1.5–2 mm wide, forming a triangular tip, 0.4–0.6 mm long, no reaching the upper margin. Calyx 3.8–4.5 mm long, exserted 1.3–2 mm from the inner bract, tube densely hairy, with 5 totally hairy ribs, reaching the base of the lobes; calyx lobes 0.6–0.8 × 0.6–0.8 mm, hemielliptical, subobtuse. Corolla lilac.
Etymology: —The epithet is refered to the habit similar to that one of Limonium anfractum (= L. dictyophorum ).
Distribution and ecology: —This species was found in some islands of central Dalmatia, such as Šolta, Šćedro, Vis and Pakleni islets ( Fig. 29E View FIGURE 29 ). It is localized only in short stretch of the coast, where it grows on the flat calcareous surfaces near the sea in halophilous communities.
