Description: —Plant perennial, 20–50 cm tall, glabrous, with robust tap-root. Caudices branched, 1–4 cm long, and covered by leaves in the upper part. Leaves rigid, rugose, glabrous, green, 1.5–3.5(–5) cm long, 5–10 mm wide, spathulate to linear-spathulate, revolute at the margin, 1-nerved, tapering into a long petiole, retuse at the apex. Stems numerous, erect, robust, striate, glabrous, with numerous sterile branches, flexuous, fragile at nodes, very branched, diverging at the angle of 50–110°, internodes 1–3.5(–4) cm long, right to curved. Inflorescence erect, lax, diffuse, branched; spikes 2–8 cm long, straight to curved. Spikelets 6–7 mm long, 3–7-flowered, 2–4 per cm; outer bract 1.4–1.6 mm long, 1.4–1.5 mm wide, ovate, acute, narrowly membranous, glabrous, with central part fleshy, acuminate; middle bract 1.8–2.2 mm long, 1.4–1.7 mm wide, hemielliptical, rounded at the apex, membranous, glabrous; inner bract 4.2–4.5 mm long, 2.5–2.7 mm wide, ovate-oblong, subacute, with margin membranous, glabrous, 0.3–0.5 mm wide, with central part fleshy, glabrous, 1.6–1.9 mm wide, long apiculate, forming a triangular tip, 0.8–1 mm long, no reaching the upper margin. Calyx 4.8–5.5 mm long, exserted 2.2–2.5 mm from the inner bract, tube hairy, ribs slightly exceeding the base of the lobes; calyx lobes, hemielliptical, 0.6–0.7 × 0.6–0.7 mm, rounded. Corolla lilac. Chromosome number 2n=18.
Etymology: —The epithet is referred to Greek “diction phoros” namely bearing net.
Distribution and ecology: —This species is widespread in the southern Dalmatia between Klek and Prevlaka,

Other popolations occurs also in Montenegro and probably in Albania. It is very common in the halophilous community, occurring along the costal belt in contact towards the inland with garigues and maquis.
