Odontothrips Amyot & Serville, 1843: 642 View in CoL . Type-species: Thrips palerata Haliday.
Wings fully developed. Head with two pairs of anteocellar setae; interocellar setae long and conspicuous. Antennae 8-segmented; segment I with pair of dorso-apical setae, of which the inner seta is usually stronger; antennal segment VI usually with base of inner sense cone enlarged, the free part of this sense cone barely protruding beyond apical margin of segment. Pronotum with two pairs of long posteroangular setae. Fore tibia with one or two inner apical teeth, but these may be reduced. Mesosternal endofurca with spinula. First vein of fore wing often with a small gap before two distal setae. Abdominal tergite VIII without paired ctenidia laterally, but with small group of irregular microtrichial rows anterolateral to spiracles; tergite VIII of female with posteromarginal comb of microtrichia broadly interrupted medially, sometimes consisting of few lateral microtrichia. Abdominal sternites without discal setae. Male smaller, abdominal sternites without pore plates.
